A friend of mine has suggested that it might be cool for the soldiers to ride jet powered mopeds…. And I just cant shake the idea…. That’s the last time I’ll listen to him.

Using loads of motion capture for this sequence – running, falling, getting shot, throwing grenades its all there…

Am trying to keep the camera moving to give it a sense of urgency – it seems to be working

Leaping straight into the deep end and starting halfway thru the story.

It’s a long flashback sequence set on VietMars in the war between the US and the Martians. So lots of opportunities to BLOW STUFF UP, basically.
Script is kind of a mess, but the shape of it is there. Don’t need to hammer out dialogue just yet, though its always better to get this stuff locked down as soon as possible.

Okay – got it, and its also a quite cynical piece of marketing… I’m doing a Xmas special. Sort of based around the traditional Scrooge story coz its always been one of my favourites. Start it in Pavlovs bar (might as well use the sets again) flashback to the horror that is VietMars, and flash forward to the not so distant future at the end.

I think it just might work

Theres a few things Id like to try with this anim. Ive got loads of story ideas all fighting for attention, just need to settle on one framework that’ll let me adapt them into one bigger story…

And coz its Sick Puppy, it has to start and end in a bar, doesn’t it? Yup.

So…Here we go:

Everyone says theres never enough time to make an animated masterpiece – stuff gets in the way, or you get bored. Fair enough. It does.. its called LIFE.

So this is what Im gonna do, this is THE BIG IDEA:

Render one shot every day. For a year.

No limits or specs on the length or type of shot, just that I get one shot in the can, every day.

365 shots in 12 months. So, if every single shot was, say 5 seconds long, that would be a half hour show! I’d be happy with that.
