Theres another website www.studioartfx.com Ive also been following for years. Another one man band, like the RUSTBOY guy, except this guy has actually finished a few productions. Its in the manga/anime style not like Sick Puppy, but looks really good.

Again he’s been in the cycle of ‘planning the next one’ for what seems like an eternity, but Im holding out that he’ll create a masterpiece…

And here it is in place, gearing up to unleash fiery death – im happy with that.
PUP FICTION: SWEARBOX is finished. Another 3 minute moment of madness. Kind of making up for the lack of bad language in other episodes, this one wallows in it!

PUP FICTION: DIME is complete. Elegant in its simplicity it features only Sick Puppy and a new character Chicken George. Yes.. he IS a chicken. Set in a familiar looking bar interior, George only came in for a beer - buy where is the usual owner... and just why is there an antisocial pup behind the bar...?

Building a martian war machine now… Ive always wanted to do that.

Sick Shorts aka Pup Fiction is well underway now, with the second episode 'Friendly fire' just completed.

This is another 2/3 minute short set in the SEAL CLUB bar and grill (as are they all) featuring the return of fan faves The Martians and Mr Fishhead (okay he never actually had a name - he was just the unfortunate shark behind the bar iin BEER) New character Red Bear also makes an appearance.

I have yet to do opening and closing credits, but they will only be short and will tie all the episodes together. I can also pad and trim accordingly to make all the eps the same length... very sneaky!

Have built some jet powered mopeds!

I have received a multitude of emails asking for more SICK PUPPY... When're the next episodes on? Well, sorry folks but thats the only one Ive done.

Its okay though coz I'm getting restless again. Ive scripted out two of the episodes listed in 'episodes' and started modelling work on ICE.

But then I got thinking... do I really want to spend months and months on one story? Do I, do I really?

Though Im sure I could do it faster than BEER, I have decided to instead do a number of quick SICK PUPPY FIXES. Very short shorts featuring all that makes SICK PUPPY great: the guns, the one liners, the attitude.

And get them done in record time.
Have just discovered SciFi are showing the HEADF##K series again, meaning everyone who keeps asking me where they can see it/ buy it/ download it can set their VCRs to Saturday November 16th 2006(provisionally)

On the development front, I have built some of the sets for SICK PUPPY: ICE along with some test renders. Will post these in the weeks to come.
Also, I mentioned previously that I was thinking of creating a few extra short shorts to break up the monotony of working on one 10 minute story.

Fanfare of trumpets! I have just finished the first episode of my new miniseries PUP FICTION. Each ep will be about 2mins long set in the world o fthe pup.
This first ep 'DIME' took about 1 week not including sound fx or editing - i still have to do a title sequence that they can all use... but its a start.

A friend of mine has suggested that it might be cool for the soldiers to ride jet powered mopeds…. And I just cant shake the idea…. That’s the last time I’ll listen to him.

Using loads of motion capture for this sequence – running, falling, getting shot, throwing grenades its all there…

Am trying to keep the camera moving to give it a sense of urgency – it seems to be working

Leaping straight into the deep end and starting halfway thru the story.

It’s a long flashback sequence set on VietMars in the war between the US and the Martians. So lots of opportunities to BLOW STUFF UP, basically.
Script is kind of a mess, but the shape of it is there. Don’t need to hammer out dialogue just yet, though its always better to get this stuff locked down as soon as possible.

Okay – got it, and its also a quite cynical piece of marketing… I’m doing a Xmas special. Sort of based around the traditional Scrooge story coz its always been one of my favourites. Start it in Pavlovs bar (might as well use the sets again) flashback to the horror that is VietMars, and flash forward to the not so distant future at the end.

I think it just might work

Theres a few things Id like to try with this anim. Ive got loads of story ideas all fighting for attention, just need to settle on one framework that’ll let me adapt them into one bigger story…

And coz its Sick Puppy, it has to start and end in a bar, doesn’t it? Yup.

So…Here we go:

Everyone says theres never enough time to make an animated masterpiece – stuff gets in the way, or you get bored. Fair enough. It does.. its called LIFE.

So this is what Im gonna do, this is THE BIG IDEA:

Render one shot every day. For a year.

No limits or specs on the length or type of shot, just that I get one shot in the can, every day.

365 shots in 12 months. So, if every single shot was, say 5 seconds long, that would be a half hour show! I’d be happy with that.

Built the soldiers – and yes it’s a blag. Ive thrown together a simple helmet, goggles and gasmask, and plonked the thing ontop of a generic Puppy body – that’s a soldier. Hey – looks alright though.

SICK PUPPY makes an appearance of sorts in this months CGi magazine. Theres also a lovingly crafted 'trailer' for BEER on the cover CD. For eagle eyed viewers out there, there are quite a few shots in the trailer that werent in the TV edition of BEER, but were taken straight from the full version.

I'm toying with the idea of bringing out a DVD with TV and Extended version, the original SICK PUPPY short from some years ago as well as some other cool stuff. Not sure of demand yet though...

So, Ive been mulling this idea over, and it’s a stupid one… It just might kill me infact.

Partly because Im a bit annoyed at RUSTBOY – the sites been running for years, had TONS of exposure in the press and on sites, and what have we got to show for it? A few stills and half a dozen quicktimes.

Yes – its all extremely high quality and I love the look and feel of it….but….
The sites been running for YEARS! YEARS!!!!

Ive got a mad idea and it wont go away. No , really.... i have....
