What IS the channel 4 thing???
Basically, it goes a little like this. Each year Channel4 run a competition, in association with the production company BLACKWATCH, to find the freshest, innovative and most creative talents in the world of narrative animation. Or something like that.
So I entered SICK PUPPY. Seemed like a good idea at the time. And in all fairness it got me in. Out of the thousands of folk who entered, me and my dawg got into the last 8. It was round about that time however that I discovered to my horror that by developing SICK for this competition would oblige me to hand over all rights to Channel4. Whether I won or not.
Not too happy about that, as you might agree so (to cut a long story shortish) Channel4 allowed me to resubmit a different idea. One that I was more comfortable with signing away.
Enter FRANK AARDVARK P.I. Investigator of the unusual. And a tale for dark, stormy, winter nights of high stakes poker against Old Nick himself. (the devil, not Nick Berry)
Sadly, it wasnt selected to go through to full TV development - they thought the punchline to the story was a bit gimmicky. And, in retrospect, I fully agree. Still a shame though.
